An Escape From Humidity

When the going gets tough, the tough go to Callaway. With the heat and humidity making today's Zumba workout an invitation to heat exhaustion, I headed north for one of the best light lunches I've had in a very long time. I had this luscious chicken and strawberry salad that also had roasted filberts, red onions and goat cheese dressed in a light poppy seen vinaigrette. When paired with a glass of 2023 Special Selection Rose of Sangiovese it was absolutely delightful.

Instead of hauling my Surface Pro 11 to the tasting room, I brought along the latest issue of Writer's Digest to read with some wine and snacks. The Dot's pretzels and a glass of NV Sparkling Bella Allora was a surprising match.

The "cool thing" that arrives tomorrow is a 12-bottle wine fridge, so in anticipation of its arrival I decided on a whim to purchase quite the haul of wines during this trip. The 2022 Wild Yeast Petite Syrah and the 2021 Special Selection Malbec are great candidates for aging, while the Rose of Sangiovese and Bella Allora bottles are perfect additions to the collection of reds and whites on hand.

Once the new fridge arrives, I can begin assembling my wine collection in earnest. The smaller fridge will house six bottles intended for aging, while the larger fridge will chill bottles intended for immediate consumption.
