Monday Night Musings
WHAT’S ON MY MIND
Transformation. The Base Camp's new name is Luka, and after a cumulative 4.5 hours of work she’s fully modded and ready to run. She’s named after the vocaloid Megurine Luka and boy does she sit higher and wider than she did when she left the factory.
The forest green Dodge Power Wagon is now called Rose. She’s big, strong and will run over anything, just like the female protagonist in The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic. Both names are fitting, and soon they will receive another mod to reflect that.
WHERE I’VE BEEN
Michael’s and Home Depot. I picked up a glossy black vinyl sticker sheet to create Luka’s tonneau cover, and I needed gardening sand to weigh down a set of 3D printed rocks I bought for indoor rock crawling.
WHERE I’M GOING
I didn’t visit Meritage last week due to my ongoing amended tax return drama. I’d love to grab lunch there soon. I’m overdue for a winery visit.
WHAT I’M WATCHING
Other than vintage anime on HIDIVE and various YouTube videos, nothing much. Moving on…
WHAT I’M READING
A manwha called Imitation. In eight volumes to date, I’ve enjoyed watching a woman accused of being a copy of a famous Korean idol become a star in her own right. Each volume is nearly 300 pages, and the story has the depth to prevent me from breezing through it in one sitting.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Heavier music more often than not. Speed metal. Death metal. Gangsta rap. Classic rock. It fits everyone’s general mood.
WHAT I’M EATING
Chicken sausage rigatoni with a glass of Syrah. Now that’s a delightful combination.
WHO GOT A REAL TIME "SLAP"
Recently I had a thirtysomething woman demonstrate chivalry is dead. I held the door open as a courtesy because someone else did the same for me minutes earlier. She walked past me without a thank you or even a glance. I muttered "Jesus, you could have at least thanked me" loud enough for employees stationed near the entrance to overhear me.
I don't care if I'm right or wrong for calling her out. I'm fed up with the lack of common decency that's as plentiful as hot dogs at Costco's food court.
WHO GETS A FIST BUMP
Las Vegas Raiders General Manager John Spytek. He made the first few days of NFL Free Agency look like Christmas in March, found a sucker to take Geno Smith off our hands, and now Maxx Crosby is motivated to play for the Raiders again. I couldn’t be happier right now.
WHAT I’M PLANNING
To stay cool. This heat wave isn’t the catastrophic event everyone’s making it out to be, but it shouldn't be taken lightly either. We’re basically getting late August weather from now until Friday, except it will cool down a little bit at night. If we prepare accordingly, we'll be fine.
WHAT MADE ME SMILE
Working on Rose and Luka have reignited my passion to tinker with things. Now I understand why some guys own a ton of RC vehicles.
