Monday Night Musings

WHAT’S ON MY MIND

Very serious felonies that made me ill. It’s related to...

WHERE I’VE BEEN

The central courthouse. I reported for jury duty this morning, but was thankfully excused from one of those cases where the inmates will carry out swift justice if the Defendant is found guilty. FYI the above picture is one of the trolleys that has a San Diego Padres wrap on its cars.

WHERE I’M GOING

The dealership. Something unexpectedly drained Artoria’s battery between Saturday and this morning. Besides a possible new battery, I’ll get her oil changed and other recommended services done while she’s there.

WHAT I’M (NOT) WATCHING

YouTubeTV. I debated canceling my $82.99 monthly sub due to not using it, then I noticed the greedy bastards wanted $480 to renew NFL Sunday Ticket. I canceled both.

WHAT I’M READING

I tried to reread Pablo Neruda’s Residence On Earth in the jury lounge, but I kept getting interrupted by the court clerks calling our names for various reasons. I also read the latest volume of Death’s Daughter & The Ebony Blade.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

SiriusXM. I activated Artoria’s radio minutes after I gave YouTubeTV/NFL the heave ho, which may be related to her battery issue. I streamed the Hair Nation and Real Jazz stations while in the jury lounge.

WHAT I’M EATING

That 2022 Faust Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon I just finished was one of the best wines I’ve had in awhile. It was outstanding with boneless ribeye steak and ziti with sausage. I’d gladly buy another bottle if I see it in stock at Vons or elsewhere.

WHO DESERVES A SLAP

There are so many candidates, but no one stood out this week.

WHO DESERVES A FIST BUMP

I was very pleased with my experience at jury duty. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the cafe outside the jury lounge has a really good turkey wrap. Even my first trolley ride in two decades was almost without incident.

WHAT I’M PLANNING

A trip to the comics shop. It’s time to read the latest on Rogue, Deadpool, and The Green Lanterns.

WHAT MADE ME SMILE

The Padres have won 9 of their last 10 games and as of this writing were only a half game behind the Dodgers. It’s been a fun ride, but how much longer will it last?
