WHAT’S ON MY MIND
Patriotism. I don’t have mixed feelings about flying the American flag this holiday weekend. Our country is far from perfect, but I wouldn’t live anywhere else in the world. You know you have it good when the only thing that feels oppressive is California’s ban on the sale of new ICE vehicles in 2035.
WHERE I’VE BEEN
The dealership. I inquired about EVs but they don’t know when they’ll arrive in the States thanks to Tariff Man. Unless production is shifted to Oxford, both versions of the Chinese built MINI Aceman found in other countries will remain forbidden fruit here in the States.
WHERE I’M GOING
Best Buy. The MSI laptop is now showing its age plus the hard miles I’ve put on it over the past four years. Rather than wait for its inevitable failure, I’ll recycle it sometime this week.
WHAT I’M WATCHING
The Indy 500. The race streamed in a separate window on my PC as I wrote this post.
I quit reading The Scarlet Letter less than halfway through. No matter how many times I pushed myself to resume reading, I was as bored with Hawthorne’s meandering prose now as I was back in eighth grade Advanced Placement English.
On a happier note, The Porch Gods delivered the latest volume of Whisper Me A Love Song last Tuesday. This yuri series is far from boring.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
No matter where I roam on SiriusXM’s channel lineup, I alway return home to Watercolors and its smooth jazz. On a side note, I figured out how to stream the SXM app on Miku’s stereo system via my smart phone the other day.
WHAT I’M EATING
Callaway’s 2022 OPR White. Technically you can’t eat a Rousanne/Viognier blend wine, but you can certainly pair it with a homemade sauceless chicken sausage pasta among other dishes.
WHO DESERVES A SLAP
Gavin Newsom, our quiet quitting but rarely quiet Governor. He’s too busy using social media to trade insults or campaign for President rather than do any sort of actual governing. We need a leader, not a LARPer.
WHO DESERVES A FIST BUMP
Chevron. They called out state Democrats for our exorbitant gas taxes, and my neighborhood station did NOT raise prices for the holiday weekend like most stations tend to do.
WHAT I’M PLANNING
I’m contemplating a day trip to grab lunch and work on my Surface Pro 11. I have a wild story idea for a new writing project, and I need an hour or so to brainstorm a rough outline with minimal distractions. If I don’t travel to the winery, I’ll visit Starbucks Cafe inside a Barnes & Noble.
WHAT MADE ME SMILE
Stock trading. I bought the dip on Home Depot (HD) stock awhile back then made a 4% profit on its sale. I’m done the same with TakeTwo Interactive (TTWO). I expect the stock to see a bump once GTA 6 preorders go live, especially if the company announces a record number of them in the days afterward.
