Another Winey Trip... With A Twist
When I booked my room at SpringHill Suites during Saturday's meal I made a mistake. I was supposed to stay overnight on Wednesday, so imagine me looking at the Marriott Bonvoy app on Monday afternoon realizing I had to pack for a Tuesday trip. Oopsie!
For lunch I had the shrimp al burro e aglio. Five sauteed jumbo shrimp are served in a spicy garlic and butter sauce with fresh crostini. The shrimp was delightful with the recommended Special Selection Chardonnay and the sauce was excellent to dip the crostini in.
After my meal I continued reading Grapes of Wrath in the tasting room with a glass of Special Selection Muscat Canelli and crackers. I loved the wine so much I picked up a bottle as well as this 2017 Wild Yeast Syrah that's not sold online.
This is me relaxing in the tasting room Tuesday afternoon with a bag of salt and cracked pepper kettle chips, a glass of Rousanne, and John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, this month's classic read. Once I read fifty pages and finished the wine and chips I checked into my room.
After I checked out I headed straight to Meritage for lunch. I always talk about ordering a house salad along with whatever I choose from the tapas menu, and here's a picture of the one I ate today. On my way home I got a text from Home Depot that my new 12-bottle wine fridge was ready for pickup. Unlike Amazon's DOA unit, the new one was a chilly 55 degrees rather quickly once I set it up in my living room. I currently have four reds, four whites, and four other bottles that are either rose or sparkling wines.
Variety is the spice of life, and Esmae also approves.
That shrimp does look tasty. I have had my fill of seafood for a while what with my latest trip. I'm still trying to get caught up since being back.
ReplyDeleteAnd a wine fridge in the Livingroom could be dangerous!!!!!!
The salad looks wonderful. I'm not a shrimp fan but it does look really good. YAY on the wine fridge.
