The Winey Adventure

My first stop was Meritage at Callaway Vineyard & Winery. I opted for heirloom tomato slices with baratta cheese and a balsamic glaze with warm crostini on the side. This plus a house salad were amazing.

My next stop was the members only Vu Deck, and it was an eye opening experience for more than the obvious reason. When I pulled up in Artoria, she looked out of place parked amongst the Mercedes Benzes , BMWs, Acruas, Porsches and Land Rovers in the parking lot. The ground floor tasting room was crowded with about forty people, and about twenty more sat in the outdoor seating area that watched a wonderful folk singer perform on a stage.

The eye opener was when I ascended the stairs to enjoy the view. Unlike down below, there were only four other people there. Is it possible the "rich" couldn't afford the wine club membership after they leased their fancy cars? It's something to think about.

While upstairs, I had to try the chimichurri fries with a glass of Wild Yeast Cabernet Sauvignon. They were a delightful pairing. I also discovered I could use the Vu Deck as a possible writing getaway during the months when there's no wine club pickups. I just might return next weekend with my laptop.

The main reason for my day trip was the end of summer barbecue at Danza del Sol. I was well fed for an early dinner.

This quarter's wine club pickup included a 2022 Meritage, a 2022 Tempranillo, and a 2024 Sauvignon Blanc. Since I had a special discount for my birthday month...

... I picked up a 2024 Rose of Grenache, a 2024 Riesling and a 2023 Tres Rose at a steep discount. The 2022 Meritage is an excellent candidate for my "aging" wine fridge, while the rest are ready to drink now.

I enjoyed myself so much that while dining at Meritage I booked a room for Wednesday night!
