Stylin', Profilin' & Other News

Today I did one last round of upgrades on Yukino and Darkness. For each I purchased CNC aluminum machined front and rear bumpers.

In Yukino's case, the front bumper includes tow hooks and a bull bar to protect the front grille and headlights.

Yukino's rear bumper has tow hooks, a hitch, and tail lights. I could probably splice the latter to work with the Pro Scale light kit, but I prefer to have them as "running" tail lights.

Darkness's front bumper comes with built in tow hooks, reuses the stock fog lights, and includes a row of very bright LEDs.

The rear bumper has built in tow hooks and a hitch. I also used Yukino's stock wheels to replace the spare wheel covers on the back of both vehicles.

In case you're wondering, those tow hitches aren't for decoration. An Injora camping trailer is on the way.

I'm getting rid of Rose, Luka and Aqua due to a scary incident. While recharging a battery the USB charger included with either Rose or Luka ran so hot that I burned my finger. I shudder to think what could have happened to Le Crash Pad if I had let that battery recharge unattended for any length of time.

I refuse to buy a different manufacturer's battery and charger to remedy the issue. I learned after the incident that what I experienced is common, and if Axial is willing to ship a known potential fire hazard with their products then they don't deserve my business.

My future RC adventures will only include Darkness and Yukino going forward. I'm confident Traxxas will allow me to enjoy my newest hobby safely.
