After I checked out of my suite, I headed back to Callaway one last time for shopping. In the gift shop I found these charming stemless wine glasses discounted. I didn't bother to look at the pricing or care that the starfish is missing a rhinestone. They match the charcuterie board and cheese knives set I purchased a few months back.

What goes with a $225 2015 Callaway Owners Private Reserve (OPR) Cabernet Sauvignon? A $95 2022 Callaway OPR White. The latter is a Roussane and Viognier blend that I cannot wait to try with certain chicken or fish dishes. Based on its tasting notes I wouldn't be shocked if it also goes well with fruity desserts. I'm still waiting to share the "Red" with Bert, but that White is a birthday present to myself.

Before I headed home to brave the rain and idiot drivers speeding on slick roads, I had the Meritage Burger with French fries drizzled in ketchup and a garlic confit aioli plus a beer whose name escapes me. I apologize for the rare faux pas of not snapping a picture before I dived right into that tasty meal.

During my meal I learned some menu items may disappear in a few weeks. Now that the tasting room has become a great place for a writing sprint, this is an excellent excuse to return to Callaway next week with my TUMI laptop backpack.
